Skin Care Procedures

Chemical Peels

At Blackledge Face Center, chemical peels are customized to each patients’ needs. The goal of any chemical peel is to safely remove a uniform thickness from the treated areas of the skin and, in so doing, improve fine lines and wrinkles. Chemical peels can help you get rid of years of sun damage.
While many patients ask Dr. Blackledge if they can perform their own chemical peels at home. His reply? You can perform your own chemical peel at home, but you run the risk of severely damaging your skin by applying the wrong amount of chemicals. Dr. Blackledge and his team understand how to fit each chemical peel to every patient and their aesthetic goals, so your skin feels beautiful. Hyperpigmentation, fine lines, and wrinkles can all be remedied by chemical peels, which help ‘reset’ the age of your skin.

Erbium Laser Resurfacing

Erbium laser resurfacing is designed to remove surface-level and moderately deep lines and wrinkles on the face, hands, neck, and chest. This type of laser treatment is great for treating sun spots, as it dusts off the top surface layer of the skin.

Hydrafacial

A Blackledge hydrafacial cleanses, exfoliates, extracts, and hydrates the skin. A hydrafacial infuses antioxidants, peptides, and hyaluronic acid into the skin. This is a non-invasive procedure with immediate results and no discomfort or downtime. Remove debris from the pores, hydrate the skin, and infuse the skin with all sorts of rejuvenating antioxidants and peptides. Dr. Blackledge and his team choose the products that will best serve your skin, then they infuse those products. Hydrafacials are an excellent form of self-care and skin rejuvenation.

Dermaplaning

Dermaplaning is a very popular treatment that involves gently scraping the skin, which removes fine facial hair as well as the uppermost layer of the skin. Dermaplaning has grown in popularity over the past few years, as the ‘age of the selfie’ has taken hold. Dermaplaning helps smooth and exfoliate the skin so that you are photo-ready no matter what. Dr. Blackledge and his team will use a small surgical scalpel to gently remove the ‘peach fuzz’ and dead skin cells that accumulate on your face. Dermaplaning has become the foundation of nearly every procedure we perform here; that is, we will usually dermaplane before we do a chemical peel or other treatment because it can make that treatment even more effective.

IPL Laser

The IPL Laser treatment, sometimes called the “Photo Facial” treats sun damage, hyperpigmentation, and rosacea. It also tightens the skin, all with zero down time. The IPL Laser treatment can give you an instant glow. The IPL laser can take care of tiny, unwanted blood vessels, unwanted broken spider veins around the nose, and can give your skin a tightened effect.

Microneedling

Microneedling is a game-changer for rejuvenating the skin. It involves placing tiny, fragmented holes into the skin to stimulate collagen production. Many patients say that their skin looks like glass following their microneedline procedures.

Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion renews overall skin tone and texture. It can also improve the appearance of sun damage, wrinkles, fine lines, age spots, and other skin-related concerns and conditions. Microdermabrasion polishes and perfects the skin using a diamond crystal-tipped applicator.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
1. What is the Comprehensive First Facial?

During your initial visit with the skin care department at Blackledge Face Center, you will receive both a comprehensive skin care analysis, a deep cleaning and rehydrating facial and then a personalized protocol for your skin treatment plan. Our estheticians have over 75 years of combined skin care experience in dealing with skin of all types and problems. We realize that you have entrusted us with your face, and so we will do everything necessary to ensure that your experience is rewarding and goal-oriented.

During your facial, you may expect to have your makeup removed using a gentle cleanser and your skin will be examined under a Woods lamp to determine your extent of oil production and accumulation and to assess your sun damage. Each step during your facial will be explained to you so that you become an integral part of your treatment.

Once the “discovery” part of your facial is complete, we will begin the treatment phase which may include extractions of clogged pores, micro peels, microdermabrasion, dermaplaning or customized peels. We use a very graduated approach so as not to overwhelm you or your skin. Our philosophy is that our patients become skin care patients for life, which means are entering a marathon with you as your skincare partner.

At the conclusion of your facial, our aestheticians will review their findings, and then give you a treatment plan that may include follow up treatments and make suggestions for products to improve your skin. We carry six different lines of products and will pull from each line to personalize your skincare.

The armamentarium used for treating acne is grown significantly with topical rinses, retinoids, antibiotics, light and laser treatments leading the way.   During your visit, your esthetician will help you find the cause of your acne, whether it be hormone changes, medications or even just clogged pores and then will work with you in formulating a treatment plan.

Some of the treatment options for acne include microdermabrasion which is a superficial skin polishing procedure used to remove oily skin pores, diminish previous scars and improve the texture of the skin.

Customized Medical Topical Skin Care – A combination of topical retinoids which are used to improve skin cell turnover, a topical antibiotic to control underlying infections in the skin, cleansers that are careful not to over dry your skin, serums used to control inflammation and antioxidants to improve scarring will be discussed with you during your consultation.
